In this full-day workshop, weāll explore how to perform and play with power dynamics in our improv. Status is always present in our everyday life.Ā We live in a world full of hierarchies and pyramid schemes, and people are always trying to gain or avoid status.Ā
Over 6 hours weāll cover the basics of how to perform high and low status and how to apply these to our scene-work in subtle and joyous ways!
About your teacher:Ā
Austin Harrison is a nationally recognised improv teacher best known for his work with Playshop, PopRox Improv, and The Improvisers. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in immersive theatre and has taught at the New Zealand Improv Festival, the Auckland Improv Festival, and founded mmmpop Improv.
He believes Improv is a powerful home for play, joy, and connection and prides himself on facilitating workshop spaces full of laughter and discovery.
What to bring:Ā
Please bring clothes that you are comfortable moving around in, as well as an N95 mask and your water bottle/lunch. There will be a lunch break in the middle of the day.
